We can’t wait to take them with us soon for an upcoming beach trip! Love it! How would you like tie dye your summer? The boys certainly loved it and love their new, special towels. You could do a whole tie dye party or it would be a great (albeit messy) activity for family gatherings, summer camps, playdates, etc. This was definitely a summer fun project. I was really surprised at how bold the colors stayed! The photo above is after rinsing, washing, drying, and using at the pool! The dyes are permanent and color-fast, so they shouldn’t fade in the wash! And, so far so good with that! After about 8 hours, we unwrapped our towels and rinsed them with the hose. After using the dye, we left them to set for about 8 hours. For the beach towels, we ended up using about 1 full bottle for every color we chose. So, be sure to open it up & add a little dye to the inside to help with that if you want. Tip though – you can see that our towels ended up with an ombre effect as the dye didn’t soak completely through to the inside roll. You just add warm water to the fill line – that’s it! Then, we put on our gloves (provided in the kit) and saturated each segment with the dye color of choice (making a pattern of course). This was tough in some spots, so we just tied the rubber bands around! Once that was done, I prepped the dye bottles. The boys decided they wanted strips, so I rolled the towels up and tried to put rubber bands around the towels (to divide in sections). To prep, we put down a large tarp (since the towels were big) and prepped the towels. Other than being patient in the 6-8 hours the dye needs to set, the whole process is incredibly easy! All you need is Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye and some 100% cotton, white towels! Look at all those great, bright colors to choose from! I let the boys 3 colors each for their towels (of course, we had some overlap). So, for a sponsored campaign with Tulip called “ Tie Dye Your Summer“, I thought dyeing our own beach towels would be a great project to try with the boys! Aren’t they fun?! Perfect for drying off by the pool or hanging out at the beach! The boys were able to help make me dye the towels. We spend a lot of time at the pool over the summer and like to get in a trip to the beach when we can swing it (it’s a 5-6 hour drive for us).
